Vase - Keramik - Japan - Tidlige Edo-periode - Kotanba 古丹波

Tamba-yaki is pottery produced in the Tamba region. Its origins are said to date back to around the 12th century, and it is one of the Six Ancient Kilns. Because the pieces are fired at high temperatures for dozens of hours, pine ash that settles on the pottery reacts with the glaze, creating kiln-induced color changes. These unique patterns and colors are its most distinctive features, and Tamba-yaki has long been prized in the world of the tea ceremony. The term “Kotanba” refers to pieces dating from the late Heian period—considered the formative period of Tanba ware—through the late Edo period. The kotanba jar also exhibits a distinctive kiln-fired patina, embodying the beauty of serendipity. The glaze shimmers with a blue luster, and the transparent glaze reflects light to create a rainbow-like glow. This jar dates from the early Edo period and was originally used as an oil jar. The indentation at the rim was designed to hold a ladle used for scooping oil. This wabi-sabi jar is perfect for long-term appreciation and would also make a striking flower vase at a tea ceremony. Condition: It is in excellent condition. Please see pictures detail. NOTICE ・The lot will be carefully packaged and we may use recycled packages to reduce the environment and the cost as much as possible. ・Duties, taxes, VAT and any other import charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. It is the recipients' responsibility for all the duties and taxes/fees. ・Sometimes customs or delivery company in your country contact you for Customs clearance via phone or email. Please make sure that you could answer the phone. If you don't, the parcel will return to me and it cost more double shipping fee for reshipping. We appreciate your understanding.
