Beskrivelse fra sælger
A pair of hand-carved wooden elements originating from an African peg chair (traditional detachable stool).
Each piece is carved from a single block of hardwood and decorated with symbolic animal motifs, including birds, a turtle, and reptilian forms. Such imagery reflects traditional African visual language, where animals often carry meanings related to protection, spirituality, and social identity.
The elongated lower sections indicate their original function as structural components of a peg chair, a portable seating form used in various African regions, sometimes associated with status and ceremonial use.
These pieces represent examples of traditional African wood carving and can be appreciated both as parts of a historical object and as sculptural works in their own right.
