Five-Story Pagoda (五重の塔) - K. Kasahara (笠原) - Japan (Ingen mindstepris)

Title: Five-Story Pagoda (五重の塔) Artist: K. Kasahara (笠原) Technique: Woodblock Print Inscription: Plate signature and artist seal Paper Size: 17 × 25 cm (6.7 × 9.8 in) Image Size: 12.5 × 16.4 cm (4.9 × 6.5 in) Frame Size: 22 × 27.3 × 2.3 cm (8.7 × 10.7 × 0.9 in) Material: Washi This is a black-and-white woodblock print created on January 21, 2006 by Japanese contemporary artist K. Kasahara. The artist is known for his distinct style, using black-and-white woodblock techniques to depict traditional Japanese architecture and natural landscapes. The print centers on the iconic Japanese “Five-story Pagoda (五重の塔)”, surrounded by trees, with a stone path in the foreground and a full moon in the night sky. The owl motif on the right is both a compositional highlight and a signature personal symbol of the artist’s work. The overall atmosphere is calm and serene, evoking the quiet elegance of a Japanese temple or garden. Through strong black-and-white contrast and clean, precise lines, the print captures the texture and form of the architecture and trees, blending modern woodblock expression with the aesthetic of traditional Japanese landscapes. The lower left corner features the pencil inscription “五重の塔 2006.1.21”, along with the artist’s handwritten signature and red seal. The piece is presented in its original frame with a glass panel. The frame shows minor signs of wear consistent with normal use. Due to age, the paper exhibits slight natural toning and yellowing; overall condition is good. Due to temporary service adjustments, Taiwan Post EMS has suspended parcel delivery to the following countries starting March 10, 2026: United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Israel, Pakistan, Maldives, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, Oman, Kuwait, Jordan, Lebanon, Greece, Egypt, Morocco.
