Byzantine Green Fire keramisk bombe Terrakotta Figur - 14 cm

A Byzantine Terracotta Greek Fire Grenade, 9th to 11th Century A.D. A well-preserved terracotta projectile vessel (also known as a “Greek fire grenade” or hand-thrown incendiary bomb) of characteristic Byzantine form. The vessel has a globular body with prominent horizontal ridges for improved grip, tapering to a short neck with a small circular opening designed for filling with the volatile Greek fire mixture. The surface shows a light greyish-beige colour with subtle firing marks and remains in excellent, unused condition. Such grenades were a key component of Byzantine military technology, famously used in naval warfare and sieges from the 7th century onward. Examples like this are relatively rare on the market. Height: 14 cm. Width: 10 cm. Depth: 10 cm. Weight: 693 g. Provenance: Danish private collection, acquired in Denmark; previously acquired in the United Kingdom in the 1970s. All items come with CoA
