Tjekkoslovakiet. 200 Kč 2010 (Ingen mindstepris)

200 Kč Alfons Mucha 2010 Proof Silver commemorative coin Alfons Mucha was a prominent Czech painter, graphic artist, and designer whose work significantly influenced the Art Nouveau style. He was born on July 24, 1860, in Ivančice, and his career took off in Paris at the end of the 19th century. Mucha became famous primarily for his posters, which he created for theater performances, advertisements, and calendars. His work is characterized by ornamental elements, graceful lines, and elegant female figures, which became a hallmark of Art Nouveau. Among his most famous works are the posters for actress Sarah Bernhardt, which catapulted him into the spotlight of the European art world. However, Mucha did not limit himself to commercial work; throughout his life, he sought artistic autonomy and the expression of his own national sentiment. In 1910, he returned to his homeland and began working on his monumental series of paintings titled The Slav Epic, which recounts the history of the Slavic nations. This cycle, consisting of twenty large-format canvases, is considered his magnum opus. Alfons Mucha died on July 14, 1939, in Prague, but his legacy lives on through his artistic heritage, which continues to inspire many artists and art lovers around the world to this day. Coin Description The obverse of the coin features a reproduction of Alfons Mucha’s decorative panel “Music” from the “Art” series. The reverse of the 200-koruna coin features a portrait of Alfons Mucha against an Art Nouveau background. Coin Certificate Each coin is accompanied by a postcard-sized catalog card made of light orange semi-cardboard. The coin is depicted in silver with a raised relief using the so-called dry stamp technique.
