The brand became well known for producing reliable watches, many of which were worn by U.S. military personnel from World War II through the Vietnam War. During the 1920s, Benrus evolved from a watch repair business into a manufacturer assembling watches with imported Swiss components. During World War II, the company temporarily stopped civilian watch production and focused on military timing instruments and war equipment. In the 1940s and 1950s, Benrus introduced famous models such as the Sky Chief chronograph and the Dial-a-Rama.
