Description
Released in February 1977, Marquee Moon is the seminal debut studio album by New York City rock band Television. Fronted by Tom Verlaine and featuring the intricate, dual-guitar interplay between Verlaine and Richard Lloyd, the album became a cornerstone of the late-1970s post-punk and alternative rock movements.
Recorded at A&R Studios in NYC with engineer Andy Johns, Marquee Moon bypassed the standard three-chord punk structure of the era in favor of expansive, jazz-inflected, and meticulously arranged melodic frameworks. The Title track, spanning nearly ten minutes, stands as a masterpiece of guitar orchestration. While it initially achieved more commercial success in the UK than in the US, the album has since been universally hailed by critics as one of the greatest and most influential rock albums of all time.

Notes for collectors
This is a highly coveted, authentic 1977 US White Label Promo (Radio Station Copy) pressing of Television’s masterpiece.
It features the distinctive matte white Elektra labels explicitly printed with "RADIO STATION COPY" on both sides under the catalog number.
The back cover includes the original embossed gold "DEMONSTRATION Not For Sale" stamp in the top left corner, proving its status as a first-wave industry promotional copy.
The vinyl was pressed at the Columbia Records Pressing Plant, Santa Maria, indicated by the "CSM" text on the labels and the "S1" / "S2" etchings in the runouts.
Crucially, the dead wax features the stamped "STERLING" mark, confirming it was mastered at the legendary Sterling Sound studio by Greg Calbi. White label promos of this caliber are incredibly scarce and highly prized by audiophiles and post-punk collectors due to their early-stamp audio fidelity.
