Original red publisher’s soft covers, with a double-page map and two town plans, plus 65 b/w in-text vignettes by Jean-Jacques Champin, Dieudonné Lancelot etc. Some foxing throughout. Neat, small ex libris to top corner of inside. The Joanne guides were an important 19th century French travel series, the ancestor of the later Guide Bleu line, and they helped standardise practical tourism in France and beyond. This particular volume covers the route from Paris to Tours, making it both a railway and travel guide for that corridor at that time. 240 pages. 18.5 x 12 cm.
