Beskrivelse fra sælger
Yixing Zisha ‘Chuanzhu Hu’ Bamboo-Form Teapot
China, second half of the 20th century
A finely modeled Yixing zisha clay teapot in the form of an elongated bamboo root, known as a 船竹壺 (Chuanzhu Hu) or bamboo-form teapot. The vessel is naturalistically sculpted with textured bamboo sections, while the spout and handle are formed as twisting bamboo branches, demonstrating the playful organic aesthetics long admired in Yixing pottery.
Bamboo holds deep symbolic meaning in Chinese literati culture, representing resilience, integrity, humility, and scholarly refinement. Its association with the “Three Friends of Winter” (Suihan Sanyou) made it a particularly favored motif among scholar-artists and teapot makers.
The teapot is executed in warm brown-purple zisha clay, prized for its porous nature and suitability for brewing tea. The underside, interior of the lid, and underside of the handle are all impressed with maker’s marks.
