Built in a full-width 19-inch rackmount chassis, the 302 was engineered not as a domestic hi-fi deck, but as a reliable production tool for continuous playback, cassette duplication, long-form recording, and multi-machine linking. Archival references place it in the mid-1990s, with production commonly cited around 1995–1997.
