Kannon Holding A Jewel 持宝珠観音 - Hand-Signed - Shiro Nakahara 中原獅郎 (1900-?) - Japan

We cannot ship to the USA due to suspension of the postal services from Malta. (Please read below). Shiro Nakahara (1900-?) was born in Yamagata prefecture. He graduated from Kyushu University Medical School and studied printmaking with Eto Masao. He held several group and solo exhibitions in the 1970’s and was member of the Banga-in and Taiheiyo Bijutsukai. In addition to moku-hanga he created prints by making relief sculptures in clay, firing the clay, and making rubbings from the resulting tiles. His subjects usually relate to Buddhism. This specific print from 1983 is called Kannon Holding A Jewel. The text on the back of the print mentions that the print was made for Nippon Heavy Industries. It is common in Japan that large corporations in Japan support artists by commissioning them to produce artworks for specific occasions. Due to the large size of the print, it will be shipped registered in a tube. This allows for drastically reduced shipping costs. Due to the introduction of the import tariff system in 2025, Maltapost has suspended all postal services to the USA until further notice. If you live in the USA, you will need to give an alternative address outside of the USA for shipments. Otherwise, please refrain from bidding.
