In the 1990s, car manufacturers could dare to do almost anything. So, when the idea of "masculinizing the Clio 2" was launched at Renault, it led to the creation of the crazy Clio V6: a small city car fitted with a V6 and a wide kit similar to the R5 Maxi Turbo! Phase 1 of the Clio V6 went on sale in 1999. Although it appealed to the public, journalists and drivers were rather disappointed. The partnership with TWR, a team then involved in F1, did not pay off. "Thanks" to the bankruptcy of TWR, the Phase 2 was developed internally with a little help from Porsche. This second version saw its power increase from 230hp to 255hp. 13 colours are offered in the catalogue, the kit is 10mm wider at the front and the mechanics are reworked. Easier to drive, this Clio V6 Ph.2 struggled to convince buyers and only 1309 models were produced in Dieppe (300 less than Phase 1).
