Description
XXL - Red Strata Monolith belongs to the Strata series, a body of work focused on dark chromatic fields, incised lines, silent structures and subtle vibration.
The composition is dominated by a deep blue field, almost nocturnal in presence. Within this space, red geometric masses emerge with restraint, creating points of intensity and balance. The large red vertical form on the left acts as a territorial edge, while the smaller red blocks appear suspended across different spatial levels.
Fine incisions cross the surface like quiet strata. These lines do not function as drawing in a traditional sense; they act more like frequency, vibration and displacement. They organize the painting through minimal gestures, creating a sense of tension between silence and movement.
The work is built through contrast: dark blue depth, red presence, thin pale incisions and subtle internal divisions. The result is a painting where space is not simply represented, but slowly constructed through proportion, resonance and restraint.
Rather than describing a landscape, the painting suggests a primordial territory: a place where structure begins to appear, where matter, perception and consciousness seem to emerge from the same field.
This large-scale contemporary abstract painting is ideal for a spacious interior, gallery wall or collector environment where silence, depth and strong visual presence are essential.
About the artist
Maurizio Valch is a visual artist, writer and graphic designer. His work explores metaphysical territories, symbolic landscapes and the relationship between geological space and human consciousness.
Through dark fields, incised surfaces, monolithic forms and structural divisions, Valch creates paintings that suggest the emergence of perception within the territory itself.
Many of his works are accompanied by original poetic texts written by the artist.
