Vase - Keramik - Japan - Shigaraki Sansai (Ingen mindstepris)
This elegant Japanese Shigaraki ware vase (Shigaraki-yaki) is a beautiful example of modern ceramic craftsmanship inspired by one of Japan’s Six Ancient Kilns. The piece features a graceful bottle-shaped silhouette with a rounded body and elongated neck, creating a refined and timeless form suitable for both traditional ikebana arrangements and contemporary interior decoration.
Its most striking feature is the remarkable glaze effect. The warm reddish-brown clay body is covered with a natural speckled texture reminiscent of snowfall, mineral deposits, or lichen-covered stone. Flowing over the surface is a vivid green ash-like glaze that descends organically from the neck and shoulders, producing a landscape-like appearance that evokes mountains, forests, and natural weathering. The subtle crackle patterns within the glaze further enhance the depth and visual richness of the piece.
The vase bears the original “Shigaraki-yaki” (信楽焼) label, confirming its association with the famous pottery-producing region of Shigaraki in Shiga Prefecture. The harmonious combination of earthy clay, natural firing effects, and vibrant green glaze embodies the aesthetic values of Japanese ceramics, where beauty is found in both craftsmanship and the unpredictable effects of the kiln.
This decorative vase makes an excellent display piece for collectors of Japanese pottery, wabi-sabi interiors, ikebana enthusiasts, and admirers of traditional Japanese craftsmanship.
Please note that the Coca-Cola can shown in the photographs is for size reference only and is not included in the lot.
Artist / Maker Information
Shigaraki ware itself is one of Japan’s most celebrated ceramic traditions. Originating in the Kamakura period (Kamakura period, 1185–1333), Shigaraki ceramics are appreciated worldwide for their organic forms, natural firing effects, and wabi-sabi aesthetic rooted in Japanese culture.
Today Shigaraki continues to be an important center of ceramic production, where contemporary artists reinterpret centuries-old techniques.
