An Ancient Silver Ring with Carnelian Intaglio Cameo Roman Imperial Period, circa 1st-3rd Century A.D. the substantial silver ring set with an oval carnelian intaglio finely engraved with the profile bust of a female figure facing left, her hair arranged beneath a headdress or veil, the shoulders draped in stylized garments. The translucent reddish-orange stone displays rich natural tonal variation and internal inclusions, enhancing the depth of the engraved portrait. The silver hoop of broad tapering form bears extensive age wear and surface patination consistent with long burial and antiquity. 22 x 20 mm. 3.62 gr.
