Joachim Brohm - Kray (SUPER RARE, SUPER BEAUTIFUL) - 1995

EXTREM BEAUTIFUL GERMAN PHOTOBOOK by Joachim Brohm, who was one of the first German photographers to explore the medium of colour photography in an artistic context as early as the late 1970s. At that time, this was unusual and innovative, especially in Germany, where colour photography was considered more of an applied field, such as advertising, and black-and-white prints were proclaimed as the photographic-artistic paradigm. SUPER RARE TITLE. Although it was already limited to just 800 copies, it is extremely rare because a large part of the edition was destroyed in transit. MY HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION. You visit the SUPER POPULAR SINGLE-SELLER-AUCTION by 5Uhr30.com (Ecki Heuser, Cologne, Germany) - with INTERNATIONAL PHOTOBOOKS from my PRIVATE COLLECTION and from RECENT ACQUISITATIONS. Brohm, born in 1955, studied visual communication at "Die Folkwangschule" in Essen from 1977 to 1983. Michael Schmidt had a great influence on Brohm as a lecturer from 1978-79, and he subsequently also participated in the activities of the Werkstatt für Fotografie in Berlin-Kreuzberg, which Schmidt founded. After graduating in 1983, Brohm went to Ohio State University for a year on a Fulbright scholarship and also deepened his studies of the medium in theoretical terms with Allan Sekula and Jonathan Green. In 1993, Brohm was appointed professor of artistic photography at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig, where he also served as rector from 2003-2011. 5Uhr30.com guarantees detailed and accurate descriptions, 100% protection, 100% insurance and combined shipping worldwide. Edition der Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig im Plitt Verlag, Oberhausen. 1995. First and only edition, first and only printing. Hardcover in grey linen (as issued). 278 x 238 mm. 120 pages. Photos: Joachim Brohm. Edited by Timm Rautert and Joachim Brohm. Text: Thomas Weski, Heinz Liesbrock. Text in German. Condition: Inside excellent, very fresh and flawless; clean with no marks and with no foxing. Outside with perfect spine, covers with a few stains, rear cover with one small nick. Overall fine condition. Super rare, super beautiful German photobook by Joachim Brohm. "I am Joachim Brohm, an artist and professor of photography living and working in the city of Leipzig, Germany. Since the 1980s my photography is centered around the structures of urban development and suburban periphery, including aspects of architecture and mobility. During long-term projects i create image-archives about places and edges in relation to the transformative powers of urban, economic and cultural developments. Part of my creative process is working with these archives, they can take on various forms of display by exhibiting and publishing. My artistic practice always pays attention to the unique qualities of the photographic image and its specific form, while i use contemporary image-making and image-processing techniques. Through a number of artistic collaborations with colleagues, curators and architectural offices i am developing new visual narratives for projects in various discourses. Having studied in Columbus,Ohio under Allan Sekula as a Fulbright Scholar in 1983-84 and with a degree from Folkwang University in Essen, Germany, i've been teaching most of my life at a number of academic institutions. My work has been shown in exhibitions internationally since 1984 and is part of major private and public collections." (artist's website)
