Dekorativt ornament - Nepal - Buddhistisk votivplade
This piece is a Buddhist votive plaque originating from Tibet or Nepal (Himalayan region), with production estimated at the beginning of the 20th century. It is a ritual plaque crafted in cuivre repoussé (hammered copper with a relief carving on the back).
The main scene depicts the three Buddhas associated with different eras of time (Dipankara, the Buddha of the past; Gautama/Shakyamuni, the historical Buddha; and Maitreya, the Buddha of the future). Represented in the iconic meditation position with the gesture (mudra) of touching the earth, surrounded by a halo and an elaborate throne supported by mythical lions and protective figures. On the lower base, auspicious symbols and altar utensils, such as oil lamps, offering bowls, and incense burners, are carved in detail.
