Japansk teak-kodansu med tre skuffer og sakura-ringpulls - Træ - Japan - 1900-2000

Item Description A charming small three-drawer chest (kodansu) in warm honey-toned teak, dating from Japan's Showa era. Each of the three drawers is fitted with a black lacquered iron ring pull decorated with a delicate cherry-blossom motif, adding a refined touch of traditional Japanese hardware craftsmanship. The case is joined with visible through-dovetails at the top and bottom corners, and the drawer runners are pegged with wooden dowels rather than nails — a hallmark of careful, old-world joinery. The top surface bears a single matching ring-pull handle set on a fan-shaped black mount, allowing the piece to double as a lidded box or be lifted easily by its carrying handle. Inside the case is stamped "ORIGINAL G SOBUE" alongside a small vintage paper trade label, pointing to its origin as a piece of quality mid-century Japanese cabinetry, likely produced for export. Compact and versatile, this little chest is equally at home holding jewellery, stationery, sewing notions or small collectibles, and its clean lines and natural wood grain make it a lovely accent piece for both Japanese-style and Scandinavian-inspired interiors. Size Height: 20.5 cm Width: 18 cm Depth: 19.5 cm Weight 1583 g / 1.583 kg Condition Good vintage condition with light surface wear, small scuffs and minor stains consistent with age and prior use; all original hardware is intact. NOITICE: The lot will be carefully packaged and sent by Japan Post, DHL or FedEx depend on the situation. It takes about 3 weeks to receive normally. Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Sometimes Customes or delivery company in your country contact you for Customs clearance via phone or email. Please make sure that you could answer the phone. If you don't, the parcel will return to me and it cost more double shipping fee for reshipping. I appreciate your cooperation.
