Japanese Cast Iron Tetsubin with Scrolling Vine Relief and Peach-Form Finial, Ryubundo Mark - Antique
Description
A cast iron tetsubin (鉄瓶) bearing the Ryubundo (龍文堂) mark engraved on the underside of the lid. The body features a raised scrolling vine/floral relief band around the shoulder, with a peach-form (momo) finial atop the flat lid — a traditional decorative motif in Japanese metalwork. Ryubundo, a celebrated Kyoto workshop, remains one of the most recognized names in Japanese cast iron craftsmanship. The spout shows expected surface oxidation from age and use.
