This example is not remarkable for elaborate ornament, but for the quiet strength of its form. The vessel has a simple, open shape, with slightly irregular walls and a soft, time-worn profile shaped by handling and use. The decoration is restrained, limited to a few dark pyrograved areas placed around the outer surface. These simple marks give rhythm to the object without disturbing its functional character. The appeal here lies in the directness of the piece: a small everyday object, made for use, preserved with an honest surface and a warm old patina. Its minimal form gives it a strong vernacular presence, somewhere between utensil and small sculptural object.
