Description:
Offered is an original 1901 Cyprus 18 Piastres silver coin, struck during the reign of Queen Victoria for the British administration of Cyprus.
The obverse features the veiled and crowned portrait of Queen Victoria with the Latin legend VICTORIA DEI GRA BRITT REG FID DEF IND IMP. The reverse depicts the crowned shield with the heraldic lion, surrounded by the inscription 18 PIASTRES and the date 1901.
The 18 Piastres denomination is the largest circulating silver coin of British Cyprus under Queen Victoria and is highly sought after by collectors of British colonial coinage.
