Ancient Roman oval-shaped red jasper intaglio with a finely detailed engraved standing boar to right. The boar is shown with naturalistically anatomical features of the eye, tusk, head, mane, tail and legs.
-> Boar hunting was a popular pastime amongst Romans and was considered to be strengthening for the body and mind.

Condition: good solid condition. Signs of wear consistent with age and use. See images.
