militar ceas - silver - Ingen mindstepris - 8928 - Unisex - 1850-1900

Dating I would date this watch to approximately 1918–1925, with around 1920–1922 being my best estimate. Here’s why: * Porcelain (or enamel) dial. * Large luminous Arabic numerals (the radium compound has aged to brown). * Cathedral-style hands. * Wire lugs. * Hinged front bezel. * Small seconds. * Early wristwatch conversion style inherited from trench watches. Case The inside of the caseback is especially informative. I can make out: * 925 — sterling silver. * A triangle maker’s mark. * An “S” stamp. * Serial number 89528. The 925 stamp confirms this is a solid sterling silver case, not silver plate. The hinged construction and wire lugs are exactly what you’d expect from Swiss-made watches of the WWI era. Crown The fluted gold-colored crown is probably a later replacement. Originally it likely had: * a silver crown, or * a nickel crown. This is common and doesn’t significantly hurt value. Bracelet The bracelet is actually one of the nicer surprises. The decorative engraved links are period-correct Art Nouveau/late Edwardian in style. The clasp is stamped: PATENT with what looks like MAY… beneath it. That style of expanding bracelet is consistent with the 1920s and may well have been fitted within a few years of the watch’s sale. Collectors generally like seeing these original bracelets remain with the watch. Dial The dial appears to be: * original porcelain/enamel, * with no obvious major cracks, * just light chips and age marks around the edge. That’s considerably better than many watches of this age. The luminous paint has aged naturally. Overall originality I’d estimate: * Dial: Original * Hands: Original * Case: Original sterling silver * Bracelet: Probably period/original accessory * Crown: Likely replacement * Crystal: Appears to be older replacement Overall originality is probably 85–90%, which is excellent for a 100-year-old watch. Condition Approximate value (USD) Not running $125–225 Running, unserviced $225–600 Freshly serviced $400–700 Based on the case, dial, and bracelet, though, this looks like a very honest, attractive early Swiss wristwatch rather than a later assembled piece. The sterling silver case and surviving enamel dial make it a nice collectible example of a WWI/early 1920s transition-era Funcțional Wach îs !

Dating

I would date this watch to approximately 1918–1925, with around 1920–1922 being my best estimate.

Here’s why:

* Porcelain (or enamel) dial.
* Large luminous Arabic numerals (the radium compound has aged to brown).
* Cathedral-style hands.
* Wire lugs.
* Hinged front bezel.
* Small seconds.
* Early wristwatch conversion style inherited from trench watches.

Case

The inside of the caseback is especially informative.

I can make out:

* 925 — sterling silver.
* A triangle maker’s mark.
* An “S” stamp.
* Serial number 89528.

The 925 stamp confirms this is a solid sterling silver case, not silver plate.

The hinged construction and wire lugs are exactly what you’d expect from Swiss-made watches of the WWI era.

Crown

The fluted gold-colored crown is probably a later replacement.
Originally it likely had:

* a silver crown, or
* a nickel crown.

This is common and doesn’t significantly hurt value.

Bracelet

The bracelet is actually one of the nicer surprises.

The decorative engraved links are period-correct Art Nouveau/late Edwardian in style.

The clasp is stamped:

PATENT

with what looks like MAY… beneath it.

That style of expanding bracelet is consistent with the 1920s and may well have been fitted within a few years of the watch’s sale.

Collectors generally like seeing these original bracelets remain with the watch.

Dial

The dial appears to be:

* original porcelain/enamel,
* with no obvious major cracks,
* just light chips and age marks around the edge.

That’s considerably better than many watches of this age.

The luminous paint has aged naturally.

Overall originality

I’d estimate:

* Dial: Original
* Hands: Original
* Case: Original sterling silver
* Bracelet: Probably period/original accessory
* Crown: Likely replacement
* Crystal: Appears to be older replacement

Overall originality is probably 85–90%, which is excellent for a 100-year-old watch.
