Triassic Petrified Wood Slice – Rich Natural Colors and Preserved Growth Structure A striking Triassic petrified wood slice, carefully cut and polished to reveal the extraordinary internal structure of a tree that lived more than 200 million years ago. The specimen immediately stands out for its exceptionally rich and varied coloration. The polished surfaces display a complex palette of warm orange, amber, caramel, cream, reddish brown and deep mahogany tones, crossed by darker mineral lines that emphasize the original structure of the wood. Particularly fascinating are the clearly visible growth patterns, concentric structures and fossilized wood fibres, which can be followed across the surface. Different areas of the trunk have undergone varying degrees of mineralization, creating an intricate natural composition in which the original botanical structure remains clearly recognizable. Several natural fractures and mineral-filled fissures run through the specimen, adding further depth and character. Small cavities are also preserved within the fossil, including openings along the natural outer edge, offering an interesting view of the original structure of the wood and the complex fossilization processes that affected it over millions of years. The irregular outer contour has been preserved, retaining portions of the natural texture of the trunk and creating a beautiful contrast with the smooth polished faces. Both sides reveal different patterns and colour distributions, making the specimen interesting to display and appreciate from multiple angles. During petrification, the original organic material of the tree was gradually replaced by silica-rich minerals while much of its microscopic and macroscopic structure was preserved. The result is a true geological record of an ancient forest transformed into stone.
