Olympus Trip 35 35mm Compact Film Camera with D.Zuiko 40mm f/2.8 Lens, Japan, 1960s 1970s production. The Olympus Trip 35 was introduced in 1967 and became one of Olympus’s best-known compact 35mm cameras. Its design received a Japanese Good Design Award in 1968. Compact 35mm film camera fitted with the fixed Olympus D.Zuiko 40mm f/2.8 lens. The distinctive selenium light-meter cells surrounding the lens allow the automatic exposure system to operate without batteries. The camera uses simple zone focusing, making the Trip 35 closely associated with travel and everyday photography. This example retains its silver and black finish, wrist strap, serial number 117906 and original-style JCII PASSED inspection label. The body shows age-related surface wear and traces of use consistent with a vintage photographic instrument. The internal film chamber and lens assembly are shown in detail in the photographs.
