Beskrivelse fra sælger

Superb element of architectural or ecclesiastical furniture (crocket / croisée de lampe or retable element) in carved softwood high relief, depicting a sacred pastoral scene, most likely a shepherd from the Annunciation to the shepherds.

The figure, wearing a rustic hat and a short tunic, holds his staff in one hand and blows into a hunting horn. At his feet lies a sheep in a setting of carved foliage.

Material: Monoaxial wood (a single, unique block of coniferous wood).
Finish: Remains of original polychromy (greenish-grey, ochre/red) and traces of gold leaf.
Era: 19th century (Neo-Gothic).

Condition: Beautiful patina of use, natural wear and gaps in polychromy consistent with age, sound structure and very healthy wood. No heavy recent treatment.

Iberian Peninsula (Spain) or, by cultural proximity, the Southwest of France / Pyrenees.

A popular sacred art piece, highly decorative, with a raw and authentic charm.
