The ocean was warm and shallow. Massive marine reptiles swam through the waters. Ammonites were everywhere—spiral-shaped, coiled creatures drifting through the sea like living, swimming snails. For over 300 million years, ammonites were ubiquitous. They were among Earth's most successful creatures, inhabiting every ocean. They came in all sizes—from tiny ones the size of a coin to giants as large as truck tires. Then—about 66 million years ago—an asteroid struck Earth. The dinosaurs went extinct. The ammonites vanished, too. But their fossils remained. This is a disc made of ammonite fossils. It is composed of dozens of small ammonite fossils arranged in a beautiful circular pattern. Each ammonite was once a living creature swimming in the warm seas of the Cretaceous period. Each one is millions of years old. Highlights: • Beautiful circular arrangement of ammonite fossils • Polished to reveal internal chambers • Golden and earthy tones • Includes a display stand—ready to place on a desk or shelf Look at that spiral. That is the ammonite's shell. Inside, there are chambers—like rooms in a spiral apartment building. The ammonite lived in the largest chamber, right at the opening. The smaller chambers behind it were filled with gas, helping the creature stay buoyant. That’s right. These creatures were like submarines. They controlled their buoyancy by pumping gas in and out of their chambers. They could rise. They could sink. They could drift with the currents. This is more than just a stone. It is a time capsule. It is a window into a world that no longer exists. It is a reminder: life on Earth is always changing, always evolving, always coming and going. This piece is perfect for: • Fossil collectors and natural history enthusiasts • Anyone who appreciates unique, natural decor • A conversation piece for a desk or bookshelf • A unique gift for the curious-minded Place it on your desk. Place it on your shelf. Let it remind you: the world is older, stranger, and more wondrous than we imagine. Dimensions: Approximately 15–20 cm in diameter.
