Beskrivelse fra sælger
Original vintage Max Amberger concert zither, Munich, Germany, offered with its fitted case and a selection of period accessories.
The original maker’s label is still present inside the instrument and reads:
“Max Amberger – München, Müllerstr. 27a”
Max Amberger was a recognised Munich maker of zithers and other stringed instruments.
The instrument is offered together with its old fitted case and several vintage accessories, including:
* old fitted case
* wooden T-shaped zither tuning key
* several metal zither finger picks / finger rings
* several packets of vintage “Konzert-Zither” strings
* loose spare strings
* vintage A/C pitch pipe / tuning whistle, marked “Ges. Geschützt”
* folding music stand
* additional small period accessories shown in the photographs
The A/C pitch pipe produces reference tones when blown and was used as a tuning aid.
The wording “Ges. Geschützt” is an old German abbreviation for “gesetzlich geschützt”, meaning that the design or product was legally protected / registered.
Condition
The zither is in unrestored vintage condition and shows clear signs of age and use.
* visible scratches, wear and marks to the wooden body
* visible cracking in the wood near the fingerboard and string area
* some strings are old, unevenly tensioned or appear to have been replaced at different times
* tuning pins and other metal hardware show age-related wear and oxidation
* some string windings and attachments appear aged and irregular
* the fitted case shows substantial age and wear
* the case handle and fittings are worn
* the accessories are old and show signs of age and use
* no professional inspection, tuning or restoration has been carried out
* full musical functionality has not been tested
The instrument should therefore be considered primarily a collectable historical concert zither and restoration project, rather than a fully serviced, ready-to-play instrument.
No serial number has been identified.
