A matched pair of Edwardian sterling silver military brushes, made by the well-known London maker William Comyns & Sons and assayed in London in 1910. The brushes have a smooth, oval, slightly curved back with no handle, the classic military brush shape. Each back is engraved in the centre with the script monogram “EGB”. Both brushes are fully hallmarked on the side with the maker’s mark, lion passant, London leopard’s head and date letter for 1911. William Comyns & Sons (founded in 1848) was one of the leading suppliers of silver dressing-table sets in Victorian and Edwardian England. Condition: Good antique condition, with wear consistent with age and use. The silver is not weighable separately, so the weight given is gross.
