BWC - Courage - Ingen mindstepris - 853010 - Mænd - 1960-1969

Very Nice BWC Courage Steel Watch – Unitas Movement The BWC (Buttes Watch Company) was founded in 1924 by Arthur Charlet in his hometown of Buttes, located in the Canton of Neuchâtel, Switzerland. The Val de Travers region, near the French border, has been well known among watchmakers since the 18th century. The company was established shortly after the economic crisis of the early 1920s, which also heavily affected Switzerland. From the beginning, BWC-Swiss became the sole trademark used across Europe and in English-speaking countries. The company initially focused on producing pocket watches, with its first major markets in Germany, later expanding to England, Spain, Poland, and Hungary. Additional commercial territories were opened in key European trading countries such as Greece and Turkey, while overseas markets included the United States, Cuba, and Canada. In 1953, Arthur Charlet’s son-in-law, Edwin Volkart, took over the company and continued its development with confidence and ambition. BWC-Swiss quickly adopted cutting-edge watchmaking technologies. By 1967, electromechanical watches were added to the collection. In 1972, BWC introduced its first quartz digital display model, followed in 1975 by its first fully developed quartz-analog watch. Ownership changed in 1991, and the company relocated to the Canton of Solothurn. Commercial operations were subsequently managed from Pforzheim, Germany. In 1999, BWC-Swiss was integrated into the newly founded Maddox AG in Pforzheim. In 2000, the 75th anniversary models designed by Alexander Schnell-Waltenberger won the prestigious Good Design Award in the United States. In 2003, Starck-Watches of Pforzheim acquired BWC-Swiss, and the innovative marketing concepts presented at Baselworld 2004 further strengthened the brand’s success. In 2009, BWC celebrated its 85th anniversary, marking 85 years of continuous history and an excellent reputation among retailers, collectors, and professionals. Offered here is a very nice BWC Courage steel watch. It features a beautiful dial and an attractive full stainless steel case. The watch is powered by a reliable Unitas mechanical movement. It comes with a nice pilot-style leather strap that fits wrists up to 19 cm. The watch is working properly. The case size is 35 mm measured without the crown.
