Roman physicians sometimes recommended it for various ailments, such as improving eyesight, reducing headaches, or for soothing the soul. In ancient Greece and Rome, Lapis Lazuli was linked to Venus, the goddess of love and beauty. In Roman tradition, oaths were sworn on the Iuppiter Lapis (Jupiter Stone), housed in the Temple of Jupiter. This stone symbolized Jupiter's role as the divine lawmaker and protector of order. It was especially significant during ceremonies, such as taking oaths of office, to emphasize the seriousness and sacred nature of the promises made.
