This is a rare signed print from the photographer Bert Hardy titled Blackpool 1951 by the legendary photographer Bert Hardy. This print features a fascinating seaside scene of Pat Wilson and Wendy Clarke from the time taken by Bert Hardy using a single-focus box camera on the promenade of Blackpool, UK and is in excellent condition. The work measures 33.2cm x 48cm while the image measures 35.7cm x 24.5cm and is signed by Bert Hardy in ink to the lower right In 1948 "Bert Hardy's Gorbals series of images, together with images by fellow photographer Bill Brandt, formed the visual accompaniment to an article in the Picture Post showing a working-class district of Glasgow while advocating for urgent social reform. In some of the housing, up to eight family members would share a single room, 30 residents would share a toilet and 40 sharing a tap. This image, named the Gorbals Boys, is one of Hardy's most famous. It was taken in 1948 of Les Mason, left, and his friend George Davis. Bert Hardy went on to become an influential English press and documentary photographer known for his work as chief photographer for Picture Post magazine. As well as historic material from his work for Britain’s leading photo-magazine, Picture Post, his photographs during his time in the Army Film and Photographic Unit, including imagery from the Blitz in London to the liberation of Bergen-Belsen and war in Southeast Asia has received much attention and praise. An important exhibition of his work was shown at The Photographers' Gallery in London.
