László Moholy-Nagy (Hungarian, 1895-1946) - Plexiglas-Mobile in Bewegung, Chicago, 1943

László Moholy-Nagy (Hungarian, 1895-1946) - Plexiglas-Mobile in Bewegung, Chicago, 1943 Gelatin silver print with the original negative. Limited Edition of Griffelkunst 2005 (C317-A4), with Griffelkunst stamp, and monogram of Moholy-Nagy's wife Huttula Moholy-Nagy. In fine condition. The photograph will be carefully packaged and sent with tracking. László Moholy-Nagy (1895–1946) was a Hungarian-born artist, photographer, and educator who became a central figure of the Bauhaus avant-garde. A Bauhaus master (1923–28), he championed the “New Vision,” exploring photograms, photomontage, radical viewpoints, and the integration of typography and photography (“typophoto”). His kinetic sculpture Light-Space Modulator and the film Ein Lichtspiel: Schwarz Weiss Grau exemplify his interest in light as a primary artistic material. After leaving Germany, he worked in London and then founded the New Bauhaus in Chicago (1937), later directing the School of Design—today the IIT Institute of Design—where he fused art, technology, and industry in modern design education. Key texts include Malerei, Fotografie, Film (1925), Von Material zu Architektur/The New Vision (1929), and the posthumous Vision in Motion (1947). His experiments set the template for photographic modernism and for interdisciplinary design teaching in the 20th century.
