I am Gabriela, an independent contemporary artist based in the United Kingdom. My work centres on original, handmade art, with a particular interest in dark surrealism, symbolism, Gothic influences, and expressive mixed-media creations. The artworks I offer on Catawiki are created by me personally, not sourced commercially. Each piece begins as an individual concept and is developed by hand, often over an extended period, using techniques such as acrylic painting, layering, texturing and mixed media. I am particularly interested in the contrast between beauty and darkness, innocence and unease, nature and mortality, creating works that invite the viewer to discover their own interpretation. My collection includes original paintings, textured wall art, and distinctive three-dimensional or mixed-media pieces. Because much of my work is created intuitively and incorporates handmade textures and individual details, each artwork has its own character and is intended to remain unique rather than being reproduced as an identical piece. I am passionate about craftsmanship and the physical process of creating art. From the initial idea and preparation of the surface to painting, detailing and finishing, I personally carry out the creative process. I pay particular attention to texture, atmosphere, composition and the small imperfections that give handmade artwork its individuality. Every artwork offered under my name is described as accurately as possible and photographed carefully so that collectors can appreciate its details, scale and individual character. I aim to create distinctive contemporary pieces for collectors who appreciate original handmade art, unconventional imagery and artworks with a strong visual and emotional presence.
