Patricia Verschelling’s interest in wine was awakened in 2004 when she went to work in a good restaurant. The enthusiastic owners let their staff try the wines so that they could advise the guests properly. That was when Patricia realized she had a talent for correctly identifying the underlying differences. By completing various wine courses, including the international WSET level 3, 4 and the Dutch well known wine education ‘Vinoloog van de Wijnacademie’, she broadened her knowledge of wine. After exploring the trade by working for a wine importer, in wine shops, wine bars and following the process of wine making at quality producers, she continued her career at an auction house specializing in wines. The auction world was a perfect fit and since 2015 she feels completely at home at Catawiki. As an expert, she draws on her extensive knowledge of the wine industry and her refined palate. She stays up-to-date by participating in masterclasses and study tours led by Masters of Wine. She strives to present the best selection at each auction, with a good balance between rare wines and fine drinking wines.
