Bronze Roman coupe.
Cast bronze Roman cup, following the Dragendorff 29 model, with relief decoration.
The body is decorated in relief with a design of scrolls on two levels.
The base is moulded.
Three small holes for future suspension, two of which were previously sealed by an artist.
Roman Empire, 1st century AD.
Dimensions: diameter 10.1 cm - height 4.2 cm.
An exceptional piece
Provenance: Germany, D.E.R.
Previous provenance history: German private collection B.M., Bonn, acquired in 1997 from the Alys Faust gallery, Cologne.
The seller can prove that the lot was legally obtained, statement of provenance seen by Catawiki.
