As the magma cools, residual fluids rich in elements like boron, lithium, and aluminum concentrate. These fluids crystallize, forming the tourmaline. The distinctive color zoning, which resembles a watermelon, results from variations in chemical composition during crystal growth. Changes in trace elements such as manganese create the pink core, while iron contributes to the green edge. This process, occurring over extended periods under specific temperature and pressure conditions, leads to the extraordinary bi-color tourmaline.
