Large Déblé statue - Senufo - Mali

Exceptional Deblé Senoufo statue over one meter in height.
Solid wood and heavy with a dark patina.
Decorations on the top of the head and elbows made of red seeds of abruses.
Characteristic elongated face, a fine and long nose, eyes made of two cowries.
The ears are circular.
Scarifications at the level of the prominent navel.
The hips are wide, and the lower limbs are reduced and end on a broad base.
The statue belongs to the Poro society; it represents the ideal woman both physically and spiritually.
Used during funerals, they struck the ground while dancing, then placed it near the body of the deceased.
These quite rare statues come from northern Côte d'Ivoire or southern Mali.
This one comes from Fourou.
She weighs nearly 13 kg and is 107 cm tall; she is in good condition.
