Description from the seller
Rare terrestrial globe by Peter J. Oestergaard Berlin, ca. 1920, "Durch Alle Welt".
"Durch alle Welt" was a magazine, this globe is very rare because it was not put on the market but they supplied it as an attachment with the magazine.
The cartouche engraved “ Oestergaard's Globus | "Durch Alle Welt" | Peter J. Oestergaard Verlag Berlin Schbg
The globe is very well preserved, the colors are bright and the map is clearly visible. Some signs of wear but no dents. Color lithograph in 12 segments and 2 polar caps, hung in a brass meridian with an engraved scale, on a turned wooden base. Lists railways, steamship lines, cables, telegraph lines, the Great Wall of China and Caravan Street.
In 1902 Peter J. Oestergaard founded his own publishing house, which he soon transformed into a GmbH.
From around 1904 he also published terrestrial and celestial globes with diameters of 11, 19, 26, 33 and 48 cm.
He and his brother Paul Oestergaard ran several publishing houses at the same time, which were also linked in different compositions to the business world until the Second World War.
Peter J. Oestergaard GmbH operated as Paul Oestergaard GmbH between 1911 and 1915.
Paul founded Columbus Verlag in 1909, but probably did not publish any globes until after World War I.

height: 63 cm.
