Rare and valuable reliquary in gilded metal from the second half of the 19th century, containing a fragment of the Ex Crucis of Saint Andrew the Apostle.
The reliquary is sealed with its own Episcopal wax seal.


From the Cross of Saint Andrew the Apostle

Devotional relic called Ex Crucis Sancti Andreæ Apostoli, consisting of a small wooden particle traditionally associated with the cross of the martyrdom of Saint Andrew the Apostle, on which the Saint bore supreme testimony of faith.

According to tradition, Saint Andrew was crucified on a decussated cross, called the cross of Saint Andrew, which the saint accepted as a sign of humility and full conformity to Christ.
