Dominican amber is a type of amber that exhibits a rare, clear coloration. It is most common in amber mines in the mountains near Santiago, Dominican Republic. Although little known due to its rarity, it has been around since the discovery of Dominican amber. Under artificial light, amber appears like ordinary amber, but under sunlight it has an intense fluorescent blue coloration. When held up to the sun it will appear like ordinary amber, and under ultraviolet light it will exhibit a brilliant milky blue color. They are estimated to be 25-44 million years old.
