Description from the seller

Right ileum of a sauropod – Middle Jurassic, High Atlas (Morocco)

Fossil dimensions: 142 × 90 × 30 cm
Overall dimensions with support: 142 × 160 × 40 cm
Support: customized metal structure included

Right ileum of a large sauropod from the Moroccan High Atlas (Middle Jurassic, approximately 165 million years ago). The element, originally found in multiple fragments, has been restored and consolidated, with photographic documentation of the intervention phases. The mounting on a dedicated metal support allows for stable display and enhances the overall impact.

By size and proportions, this ileum belonged to an animal estimated to be about 25 meters long and 28 tons in weight. The acetabular cavity, approximately 50 cm (the part that housed the head of the femur), was located 4–5 meters above the ground in the living animal, highlighting its impressive scale. Most likely, the specimen represented one of the giants of its time within the context of the Middle Jurassic North Africa.

Today, the bone interacts with the metallic support that holds it: a sculpture born from the encounter between a steel base, created by man, and a natural form shaped over millions of years, where the modern part elevates and completes the ancient one. The result is a unique object, simultaneously a geological testimony, a piece of furniture, and a focal point in any space.
