Magnificent specimen of Pycnophlebia sp., one of the most emblematic orthopterans from the lithographic limestones of Solnhofen. The insect, about 7 cm long, is preserved in a complete and three-dimensional manner: head, thorax, abdomen, legs, and wings are all clearly visible under oblique light. The wing venation, although partially covered by a thin veil of rock, is distinguishable and confirms the attribution to the genus.

The slab measures 15 × 12 × 2 cm and remains in its original discovery condition, with the natural surface unaltered by restoration or cleaning efforts. This helps preserve its authenticity and collectible rarity.

Orthopterans of the genus Pycnophlebia, belonging to the family Prophalangopsidae, represent primitive forms of crickets/tettigoniids and are considered finds of great scientific interest.
