Manuscript Persian antique – Poetic folio on recto and verso, a 2-page Persian manuscript written in nastaʿlīq script on light brown oriental paper, dating from the late 18th to early 19th century and in good condition.
Description from the seller
Ancient Persian manuscript – Poetic folio on both sides. Moral and philosophical poetry – Nastaʿlīq script.
Iran or the Persian world – late 18th to early 19th century.
Original handwritten leaf written in Persian, in black ink, on old oriental paper with a light brown hue. The text is written on both sides in a beautiful, cursive nastaʿlīq script, regular and well-balanced, typical of poetic and moral manuscripts from the Persian world of the 18th and early 19th centuries.
The content is poetic, moral, and philosophical, with a meditative and didactic tone. The text evokes classic themes of Persian literature, the human condition, wisdom, reason, knowledge, and the limits of man in the face of divine and natural order.
This is not an administrative text, but rather a literary or didactic excerpt, probably copied for study, reading, or moral transmission.
The layout is neat, with continuous lines and no apparent ruling. The writing is fluid, with elegant ligatures and a good sense of proportions. The end of the text features a free calligraphic stroke, possibly a closing sign or a pen exercise.
The paper, thick and flexible, displays a beautiful old patina with visible vegetal fibers. The edges are irregular, probably cut or worn over time. The ink is well preserved, with no corrosion or perforation of the support.
Good to very good overall condition. Small stains, foxing, and marginal wear consistent with age. No major tears, no missing text. Complete leaf.
18th – early 19th century, based on paleographic criteria (nastaʿlīq), paper, and literary style.
Standard manuscript format 16cm x 15cm.
A very beautiful example of a Persian poetic manuscript, sought after by collectors of Islamic manuscripts, Persian literature and poetry, nastaʿlīq calligraphy, and ancient oriental documents.
Authentic object, both historical, cultural, and decorative.
