Both the upper and lower volumes come with a transport case.
The inner case is also in excellent condition, and the original obi (paper band) is included.
There are almost no stains, and the books are in very beautiful condition.
" Shunga " is the Japanese word to describe the study of the Japanese erotic art prints.
This limited edition is an anthology of these prints on 17th & 18th century in the two different schools :
The most imortant is the Edo ( old word for Tokyo ) and the other one Kamigata ( Osaka & Kyoto).
Richard Lane (1926-2002) was the best specialist for Japanese erotic art prints , Historian of arts, and art seller too, he wrote some books about this subject , All the masters , painters & engravers are present like Hokusai, Utamaro, Shunsho, Koruiysai or Hanurobu
The book is bound with a yellow cloth , the letters are black embossed on the spine and the English title is simply embossed on the cover book, the , the Kanji title is orange embossed .. The book is large 33,5 x 26,5 cm , 142 pages.
The plates are full page and that is the main difference with others editions ; each plate is 28-30 cm large and 20 cm high.
A commentary in Japanese and English are at the bottom of each photos ; a complete commentary in Japanese at the end of the book.
