Limited edition of 600 copies. This one, one of the 100 non-commercial copies reserved for collaborators, bears the number XXI.

In two volumes, bound in half-blue night leather, with smooth spines, one decorated with the gold initials E.D. With a cardboard slipcase.
In very good condition despite scuffs and marks on the case, minor scuffs on the spines of the volumes. Impeccable interior. Beautiful copy.

Théophile Silvestre was able to write: 'Should we then be surprised that many routine critics exclaim: Delacroix does not know how to draw! Say that he does not draw like others and that he refuses to follow a recipe; but no one has studied, compared, or reflected more. I would need a year to inventory his drawings, not counting the loose sheets scattered around from his youth. Delacroix's original drawing is very free: as he sees things quickly and in a broad view, that is, in the form of sketches, each of his strokes becomes characteristic, generalizing, and primarily determines the volume, the projection of the bodies, and the direction of movements...
