Description from the seller

Engraving, Silver Sculpture after Maarten Jacobsz van Heemskerck. 16th century

Made of solid silver / Weight: 112 grams
Height: 7 cm
Length: 13 cm

The horses 'Rapina and Fraus', their harnesses and blankets adorned with Masks, pull the four-wheeled chariot driven by 'Dolus'. At each end of the 'Opulencia' chariot, perched on cushions, holds a scepter in his left hand and a crown in his right hand. At his feet sits 'Superbia', with a feather in her hair and a mirror in her hand. Next to the chariot walks 'Libido', topless, with his phallus in his right hand. Behind them, 'Proditio', with two faces, pours a liquid from a jug and holds a brazier in his left hand.
Behind the tank, the 'Vanae Laetis' parade, blowing soap bubbles. One, near a pig, is holding a book in her right hand; the other is wearing a vase on her head. Behind the horses walks 'Ursura,' a wallet in her hand.

Netherlands. Last third of the 16th century.
