Description from the seller
Philips CD-200 CD player
The very first generation of CD player (1982)
This legendary Philips CD-200 is a true icon in the history of hi-fi audio. This CD player belongs to the first commercially available CD players in the world and marks the beginning of the digital era. Developed by Philips in collaboration with Sony, the CD-200 is known for its exceptionally robust build quality, timeless industrial design, and distinctive analog sound reproduction.
In excellent condition, very little signs of use, and fully functional, all features work as they should.
Unlike modern, lightweight players, the CD-200 is built like a tank: a heavy metal casing, high-quality internal components, and the legendary Philips CDM-0 swing-arm mechanism. This mechanism is still regarded by enthusiasts as one of the most durable and musically rich CD mechanisms ever made.
The sound is warm, spacious, and natural — often described as 'analog-like,' with a pleasant calmness and depth that perfectly suits vintage amplifiers and speakers from the '70s and '80s.
