Like all dinosaurs, Keichousaurus belonged to the reptile family. Due to its heavy bone structure, scientists believe that these reptiles were on the verge of making the evolutionary step from sea to land. These reptiles were killed as a result of a volcanic eruption about 245 million years ago. When the volcanic ash dried, cracks formed. These cracks were filled with water, which created the calcite veins often visible in the rock. Often, the stone plates break along these veins. This has not happened with this young specimen; it is completely intact and original.

Stunning rare beautifully prepared young keichousaurus with many details. The matrix measures 5.6 cm x 4.8 cm and is 1.1 cm thick. The keichousaurus measures 3.1 cm and 4.2 cm in extended position. Solid, sturdy plate. Beautiful decorative fossil.
