Description from the seller
LA MANSION DU WHISKY EDITION - SUMMER BOTTLING Welcome aboard the world's first floating cellar where premium rum is matured. Plantation Barge 166 Barbados is the very first edition of its kind. This exclusive rum is the result of a combination of tropical maturation and finishing in a small cask on a barge that has been moored on the Seine River since 01/2023. Plantation Barge 166 Barbados matured for 5 years in Barbados and rocked for one year on the barge. The result is a unique edition, of which only 56 bottles were bottled. Plantation Barge 166 Barbados Private Cask 51.0% stands out with a long, complex and persistent taste, complemented by sweet spices. Get a treasure that deserves a privileged place in your collection.
The uniqueness of Plantation rums lies in their double maturation. First, they rest in American oak barrels, mainly ex-bourbon. The tropical climate of their homeland allows for the faster release of more aggressive, volatile vapors in young rums. Later, they travel to France, where they mature in French oak ex-cognac barrels.
Each Plantation rum is unique in itself. Then there are Vintage and similar editions, which are even rarer. And as if that weren't enough, with a little luck you can treat yourself to something exclusive that has no equal in the world. The latest innovation is a floating cellar that is moored on the Seine River.
Barge 166 is a barge that was built in 1948 to transport people and cargo on the river. Maison Ferrand completely renovated this historic ship into a swinging cellar located in the cargo hold. There you will find racks for 1,500 30-liter barrels, which are used for private bottling.
